Terms and licence
Last updated: 1 October 2026
1. Who we are
Towfu is made by Towfu Ltd ("we"), Barrow-in-Furness, LA14 4AN, United Kingdom. Contact: .
2. Your subscription
Towfu Pro is a monthly subscription (£24.99 a month in the UK; the price in your currency, with any tax that applies, is shown at checkout). There is no one-off purchase. Our order process is run by our online reseller, Paddle.com. Paddle is the merchant of record for all our orders and handles customer service enquiries about payments and returns. Your subscription is also covered by Paddle's buyer terms.
- Renewal: your subscription renews automatically each month and is charged to the payment method you used, until you cancel. We'll tell you in advance if the price changes, and a new price applies only from your next renewal after that notice.
- Cancelling: you can cancel at any time from the link in your Paddle receipt or at paddle.net. Towfu Pro keeps working until the end of the month you've paid for, then Towfu switches to the free Community mode. Nothing on your computer is deleted.
- By completing checkout you ask us to give you access to Towfu Pro straight away. See our refund policy: we offer a full refund within 14 days of your first payment, whatever the reason.
3. Your licence
- While your subscription is active, we give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use Towfu Pro.
- One person, up to 3 computers. A licence is for one named individual, on up to three computers they use at the same time. It isn't for sharing with other people. Teams need one licence per person.
- Updates: every update released while your subscription is active is included.
- Trial and Community mode: the trial and Community mode are free and provided as they are, and may change.
- You may not resell or sublicense Towfu, remove or get round its licence checks, or reverse engineer it except where the law allows you to.
- Towfu is licensed, not sold. We keep all rights in it that these terms don't give you.
4. Third-party tools and your AI accounts
Towfu is a workspace that runs command-line tools you install yourself, such as Claude Code (by Anthropic) and Codex (by OpenAI), under accounts or API keys you own. It doesn't include those tools, any AI model, or any AI usage.
- Those tools and your accounts are governed by their providers' terms and usage policies. You're responsible for following them, including any rules about account sharing, automation and usage limits.
- Providers can change their tools, output, limits or terms at any time. Features that depend on them (such as usage readings, conversation history or resume) may stop working until we update Towfu. We'll try to fix things quickly but can't guarantee compatibility with every provider version.
- We're not affiliated with or endorsed by Anthropic, OpenAI, Google or xAI.
5. Your code and data
Towfu works on your files, on your computer. AI agents you run in Towfu can change or delete files and run commands with your permissions. Use version control and review what agents do. We don't receive your code or conversations; see the privacy policy.
6. Revocation
A licence key stops working when its subscription ends, if a payment is refunded or charged back, or if the key has been shared publicly or used to break these terms. We'll tell you first where we reasonably can. If a key is disabled by mistake, contact us and we'll fix it.
7. Our responsibility to you
- If you're a consumer, you have legal rights in relation to digital content that is faulty or not as described (for example under the Consumer Rights Act 2015). Nothing in these terms affects those rights.
- We aren't responsible for losses caused by third-party tools or services, by AI agents' actions on your files, or that weren't reasonably foreseeable.
- If you use Towfu for business, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid for your licence in the 12 months before the claim. We aren't liable for business losses such as lost profits, data or opportunity.
- We don't exclude or limit liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
8. Changes and ending
We may update these terms. We'll tell you about important changes before they apply; they take effect from your next renewal, and you can cancel before then if you don't agree. You can stop using Towfu and cancel at any time. If you seriously break these terms, we may end your subscription and licence.
9. Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you're a consumer, you may also bring proceedings in the courts of the part of the UK where you live, and you keep any mandatory protections of the country you live in.
